Enter the search terms, separated with spaces, in the relevant search fields. Please note that many index terms are in plural form, such as "kartat" (maps) rather than "kartta" (map). Use Finnish index terms. You can cut the search term anywhere; no cut character is needed, but place names only in full terms and only to the "Location" field. The result only includes images where all the search terms occur.
When searching with a place name, the default is to expand the search to the past, to cover municipalities that were previously located in the same area. For example, a search with "Rautjärvi" returns images where the place name is Rautjärvi or Simpele (merged with Rautjärvi in 1973). It is possible to limit the search to only cover the name of the municipality that existed when the photo was taken. To do this, tick the "Hae vain valitulla kunnan nimellä" selection. In that case, a search with "Simpele" only returns photos taken in the Simpele area before the municipal merger, and a "Rautjärvi" search will only return photos from the Rautjärvi area before the municipal merger, and from the entire area of the merged municipality after the merger.
